Good Shepherd Christian Academy

Academics

At Good Shepherd Christian Academy the total curriculum stresses the development of Christian values and attitudes, while helping the child in attaining the necessary tools for his/her intellectual, moral, social and physical development. Our small class sizes allow teachers to stress individualized learning according to each child’s abilities and rate of progress.

We recognize and incorporate state and national standards of learning in all areas of study and at all grade levels while selecting adaptations that are in keeping with Christian principles. The highly distinguished and internationally recognized Christian curriculum and textbooks from A Beka form our core curriculum in the areas of early education and the teaching of reading using the phonics system. Parts of this curriculum are supplemented or replaced with textbooks and curriculum that we feel better prepare our students. Handbooks for each grade level are given each year to parents that provide specific information for the year including information on the curriculum, texts and goals for the year. A complete overview of all grade levels is available from the school office and on the website. Reviewing curriculum, textbooks, workbooks and resources is an on-going process to ensure that our students and teachers have the best tools available.
